The South Central Renaissance Conference, with deep roots in the southern and central United States, promotes the interdisciplinary exploration of the cultural transformation that occurred between the late fourteenth and late seventeenth centuries in Europe. It hosts an annual international academic conference at which scholars at every career stage – from novice graduate students and independent scholars to endowed professors and emeritus faculty – can present original research, connect with others who share their interests, and listen to presentations from across the disciplines: literary studies, art history, all forms of historical inquiry, musicology, and philosophy among others. To further promote the dissemination of original scholarship, the SCRC sponsors a respected academic journal, Explorations in Renaissance Culture, accepting submissions from across the globe and publishing material of the highest quality. The SCRC seeks to build bridges with other organizations devoted to the study of any aspect of the period.
